About Freda
Freda’s love affair with art began at a very young age and has remained her lifelong passion. In the late 1980s, she studied Fine Art at WRTC College. However, uncertain about the career opportunities available in fine art at the time, she chose to explore more commercial creative paths, including window dressing and interior design.
This journey brought her to New York, where she built a successful career in visual merchandising and interiors. She worked on window displays and interior installations for Macy’s, before progressing to store fit-out projects for brands such as Urban Outfitters and Anthropologie. Through these projects, she rediscovered her passion for fine art, specialising in decorative plasterwork and artistic finishes, skills she continued to develop and refine for many years.
In 2004, Freda returned to Ireland and continued her career in window dressing and interior design. Many years later, while staging a home for sale, she found herself searching for large-scale abstract artwork to complement the space. Unable to find exactly what she envisioned, she decided to create the paintings herself. What began as a practical solution soon reignited her passion for painting and marked the beginning of her return to fine art.
Today, Freda is best known for her expansive abstract seascapes and landscapes, inspired by her childhood growing up by the sea. Her work captures the beauty, movement, and tranquillity of nature, reflecting a lifelong connection to the coast. Drawing on her fine art training and extensive design experience, she creates pieces that evoke a sense of calm, space, and connection
